Karen Tieszen Healing Arts
At the John T. Vucurevich Regional Cancer Care Institute
Karen Tieszen was a patient at our facility and found reading to be a quiet
and relaxing activity to enjoy while receiving her chemotherapy treatments.
Karen’s husband, David, recognized the calming effect this had for her, and
recommended this program as a way to honor his wife and provide for similar,
stress-reducing activities for others fighting cancer.
The purpose of the Karen Tieszen Healing Arts Foundation is to complement
state-of-the-art clinical care with books, music, and other creative materials
to support cancer patients along their journey.
Your donation will enable the Healing Arts Foundation to purchase books, books
on tape, puzzles and videos that can be used while patients are in treatment.
Your gifts will help build this program with future endeavors, such as wheeled
carts to bring the arts to the patients at John T. Vucurevich Regional Cancer
Care Institute and the inpatient oncology unit. We also would like to bring some
art programs into the John T. Vucurevich Regional Cancer Care Institute such as
watercolor, knitting, fly-tying and many others.
